About Heidi

Heidi Modr has enjoyed a lifetime in music playing violin as a soloist, chamber player, studio artist and orchestral musician at top concert halls with world renowned artists. 

A graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory and The Juilliard School, where she studied with the late Dorothy Delay, Heidi has garnered two favorable New York Times reviews for solo appearances in New York City. Anita Gates’ comment on her playing of an unaccompanied Sonata reads ‘Bach played beautifully by Heidi Modr’. 

Heidi has appeared at Carnegie Hall, Weill Recital Hall, Sapporo Hall, Alice Tully Hall, State Theater and The Kennedy Center numerous times in solo, chamber and in orchestral concerts with the Orchestra of St Luke’s, American Composer’s Orchestra and Brooklyn Philharmonic. She has played on hundreds of commercials and soundtracks in addition to having recorded and performed with artists like Ray Charles, Pavarotti, Yo-Yo Ma, Carly Simon, Burt Bacharach, Elvis Costello, Frederica Von Stade, Winton Marsalis, Plant and Page and Aretha Franklin. Heidi has played on Broadway in Will Rogers Follies, Jekyll and Hyde, Beauty and the Beast, Showboat, Carousel, The Wizard of Oz and Into the Woods.

Having moved back to the States from Europe and to the South Bay area recently, Heidi has been playing in exceptional ensembles and performed as the solo violinist in Five Hebrew Love Songs at Old First in San Francisco this past year.
